CNBC Africa displays the transformation in COVID-19

The spreading Covid-19 pandemic is both a health and an economic crisis of historic and unprecedented proportions. With the exception of a few sectors, most companies were adversely affected. What has remained constant during this very difficult time is the indispensable role that the media play in society. CNBC Africa (www.CNBCAfrica.com) has implemented a number of proactive and innovative measures to continue to deliver accurate, timely and informative business news.

All organizations within the nuances of their own industry have adapted to the new normal of operations in order to remain relevant to their customers. As a pan-African business news network, the broadcaster had to review its programming grid in order to continue to exceed our viewers’ expectations. An important aspect was not only increasing interactive engagement using technology, but also looking at different sectors and the recovery within those sectors. To this end, CNBC Africa rose to the challenge with the start of the first virtual panel discussion series Business Tomorrow. The first episode aired live on May 5, 2020 with panelists from the public and private sectors. The virtual event was broadcast live across the continent via satellite and several online video platforms with a live audience.

The focus of the series is on providing a platform to highlight the devastating effects of the pandemic. As we all adjust and respond in our own way CNBC Africa wants to continue to help ensure that individuals and communities emerge stronger. We’d like to use the Business Tomorrow series to compress key information and actionable recommendations on priority topics into 60 minutes to help organizations with their prevention, response, and recovery efforts. It is this level of commitment and high-level access that gives our corporate partners a competitive advantage.

This pandemic has transformed the world into uncharted territory, forcing many companies to reassess almost every aspect of the way they work. Our top priority remains the health and safety of our employees and partners in the countries in which we operate. We were fortunate enough and in a unique position to respond quickly to the nationwide lockdown and to develop new services and solutions for our audiences and customers. We are incredibly proud of our team’s ability to manage and manage the effects of this pandemic. The past few months have proven that we make it work from home. It has also enabled us as an organization to further refine our thinking and manage technology and innovation to gain a competitive advantage.

CNBC Africa’s mission is more important than ever to continue to monitor and respond to the ever-changing economic landscape to bring our audiences the latest breaking business and financial news online, online and to the point.
