Harare, May 30 (IANS) A sizzling, unbeaten century for Theunis de Bruyn gave South Africa A a strong start to their tour of Zimbabwe as they comfortably beat the hosts here by six wickets on Saturday.

At first, the tourists at Harare Sports Club hit a whopping 319 for nine, but then gave a definitive answer by charging 43 balls at the target.

De Bruyn was at the forefront of the chase – he beat six sixes and seven fours in an unbeaten 113 of just 64 deliveries – while Janneman Malan (82 of 76 balls, 11 fours, 2 sixes) and Reeza Hendricks (52 of 56 balls) , 6 four) also recorded half centuries.

Together with 49 of captain Zubayr Hamza, they gave the Malibongwe Maketa team a good start to the series, which consists of four one-day and two four-day encounters in the capital.
