Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers could miss Nigeria’s friendly games against Costa Rica and Portugal following the injury he suffered in Cremonese’s goalless draw against Udinese on Sunday.
The 27-year-old was forced out of the game after just 23 minutes after showing signs of pain during Sunday’s Serie A clash against the Little Zebras.
Cremonese eventually earned a point from the game but remained bottom of the Serie A table without a win, five draws and seven losses and their form in the last five games has seen them pick up only three points.
Dessers, who joined Cremonese in a €6.5m transfer from Genk during the summer, has struggled to make an impact for the Serie A outfit since his arrival.
He has just two goals, and one assist in twelve appearances this season and Cremonese have failed to win a game in the Serie A so far this season.
The extent of the striker’s injury remains unknown but it could effectively rule him out of Nigeria’s games against Costa Rica and Portugal on November 10 and 17 respectively.
Cremonese will carry out further tests to determine the severity of the injury.
