Egypt Increases Areas with Long-Staple Cotton by 77.4% in 2022

Egypt managed to increase the areas planted with long-staple cotton to 319,580 thousand acres in 17 governorates in Delta and Upper Egypt during the current season and until yesterday, with an increase in areas of 77.4%, compared to last season.

These figures are based on data from the General Authority for Arbitration and Cotton Tests, amid expectations of an increase in the spaces for half a million acres for the first time in about 15 years.

dr Mohamed Khader, head of the General Authority for Arbitration and Cotton Testing, revealed that the cultivation of Egyptian long-staple cotton has increased significantly, which heralds the arrival of areas of about half a million acres, and is an important step toward restoring Egyptian cotton to its local and global position.
