Egypt wins towards Norway and faces France within the semi-finals of the U21 World Cup

The Egyptian handball team faced the semi-finals of the IHF Men’s U21 World Championship in Spain on Thursday after defeating Norway 29:27.

Egypt gained the upper hand in the second half by a 17-13 lead after Norway beat Egypt 14-12 in the first half.

Egypt will face the French side on Saturday, who defeated Denmark 35-32.

This win marks Egypt’s sixth straight win after beating Australia 44-17, Nigeria 47-30, Sweden 32-22, South Korea 38-36 and France 37-23 in the group stage.

Egypt qualified for the quarter-finals of the championship after a narrow 30:29 win against Serbia in the 16th round.

Egypt is the first non-European team to have taken first place since 2009, when Brazil did.

Egypt ranked second behind France on the list of the teams with the most goals scored, after 188 goals in the first round.
