Four men between the ages of 30 and 64 were shot dead and another was injured on Saturday in Mitchell’s Plain near Cape Town, South African police said.

“The victims were shot at close range while a 37-year-old male victim escaped the attack with a gunshot wound,” said Western Cape police spokesman Andre Traut.

“It is believed that unknown suspects opened fire on the group of five and fled the scene on foot. The suspects have yet to be arrested and the police are calling on the community to contact us with information, ”he said.

The cause of the shooting was not clear at the time.
