Cape Town, January 19, 2023: The Indian women’s hockey team continued their winning streak in South Africa as they defeated the hosts 4-0 in their third game of the tour in Cape Town today.

After winning the first two games fairly convincingly, the Indian team stuck to their basics, taking chances really well and using a disciplined structure to stay ahead.

The game started quickly with India creating good chances in the circle. It was Rani who has shown great form on her comeback tour who scored the first goal for India in the second minute of the game. The early 1-0 lead brought some stability to their game as they needed some time to settle in over the next few minutes of the first quarter.

The team returned to their game with a fresh attack in the second quarter. In the 18th minute, Deep Grace Ekka, a regular in India’s PC attack, converted a penalty corner. The 2-0 lead gave India extra ammunition to attack and put South Africa under pressure.

They scored their third goal in quick succession when Vandana Katariya scored a brilliant field goal in the 20th minute. While the third quarter remained scoreless, India ended the game with a 46th-minute field goal from young sensation Sangita Kumari. They held that 4-0 lead with a strong defensive performance and continued the winning streak after winning the previous two games 5-1 and 7-0.
