Kenya begins vaccinating Olympic athletes

NAIROBI: Kenya began vaccinating its Olympic athletes against Covid-19 on Thursday to pave the way for participation in the Tokyo Games.

All 75 athletes in the Olympic team’s bladder at Nairobi’s Kasarani Stadium were vaccinated on Thursday. This exercise will also cover the Paralympic teams, rugby sevens and officials working with preparations for the safari rally in Kenya.

“It is important that the athletes are vaccinated against Covid 19. We are now waiting for the current suspension to end so that the athletes can participate in competitive team events,” said Francis Mutuku, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Kenya , opposite AFP.
