Agnes Tirop, who competed in the women’s 5,000-meter race at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, was found dead in her apartment in the city of Iten, Kenya, The Standard and KTN News reported.
She was found with stab wounds in the abdomen, the sales outlets said. No reports mentioned a suspect or motive.
Tirop broke the world record in the women’s 10,000 meter race in September.
She was two-time bronze world champion over 5,000 meters.
