Kenya’s COVID-19 infections top 230,000

The number of COVID-19 infections in Kenya has passed the 230,000 mark as the East African country continues its fight against the pandemic.

According to the latest data from the Ministry of Health, 1,166 people have tested positive for the disease in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 230,794 cases.

The ministry also reports 36 deaths, bringing the cumulative number of virus-related deaths to 4,564.

Kenya has stepped up national vaccination efforts to curb the further spread of the virus.

As of Tuesday, the total number of vaccines administered had reached 3,610,560, with the number of people fully vaccinated being 786,340.

The government has also imposed various containment measures, including a nationwide night curfew, a ban on large public gatherings, and the mandatory wearing of face masks.
