Kia launches new small cars in Nigeria

Kia Nigeria has announced the launch of its sophisticated and sporty compact SUV, the Kia Seltos, which the company says will enter the global compact SUV segment with assertiveness, cutting-edge technology and safety features.

The vehicle is available as a 1.6-liter T-GDI turbo gasoline engine with 177 hp, as a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine with 149 hp and as a 1.6-liter diesel engine with 136 hp.

According to the company, the Seltos will be offered in the Nigerian market with an automatic transmission option that suits customers’ needs and driving style – a six-speed automatic and a continuously variable transmission.

It is equipped with a Drive Mode Select system that allows the driver to customize the car to suit their preferred style or road conditions. Drivers can choose between the modes “Normal”, “Eco” and “Sport”.

The Eco mode is designed to maximize the range of the vehicle through fuel-saving measures, while the Sport mode increases the responsiveness of the steering and electric motor in order to maximize the dynamic driving feel of the vehicle. Normal mode strikes a careful balance between the two.

It is also equipped with a UVO CONNECT telematics system that brings driving into the digital age, connects the driver with the whole world and provides useful information – via the touchscreen in the car and compatible smartphones.

At the launch, the Managing Director / Chief Executive Officer of Kia Nigeria, Mr. Jacky Hathiramani, said: “The Seltos is an important car for Kia as it will play a central role in expanding our presence and in particular has a priority in a market like Nigeria .

“We have adjusted our strengths in design, quality and technology to meet the needs of customers in the Nigerian market.”

He added that the Seltos is aimed at youthful, tech-savvy buyers and is packed full of our cutting edge technology and safety gear.
