Nigeria Cup starts with qualifying games

As preparations for the 2021 Nigeria Cup golf tournament series gain momentum, there are many indications that this edition, the 24 Pleasure.

The Golf Practice Range of the Ikoyi Club 1938, Golf Section Course, the venue of the annual competition, is already overcrowded with golfers who want to improve their skills before the tournament qualification, which will be held on August 28th.

Corporate sponsors of the Nigeria Cup have also made inquiries regarding participation in the sponsorship class.

A tournament organizing committee led by Mr. Frank Igbene and supported by Mr. Tade Adekunle and Mrs. Ronke Iyola was set up. The committee that worked to deliver the best Nigeria Cup tournament ever has a responsibility to raise funds and execute plans for the weeklong competitions.

The Nigeria Cup series of golf competitions for six different categories of golfers is organized annually by the Ikoyi Golf Community Nigeria Association (IGCNA) and hosted by the Ikoyi Club in 1938.

The event was launched to celebrate Nigeria’s independence anniversary.

Since its debut in 1997, the Nigeria Cup has become the most popular and glamorous amateur golf event in Africa.

Aside from the golf course competitions that include staff, caddies, professional golfers, male and female golfers from the Ikoyi Club, the Nigeria Cup has become a financial vehicle influencing its immediate surroundings through strategic investments in the golf infrastructure of the Ikoyi Club Golf Course . as well as donations to charities in the state of Lagos.

This year the goal is to donate an automated irrigation system to the golf department of the Ikoyi Club.

In accordance with the community’s current health conditions and goals, the 2021 Nigeria Cup will be held in full and strict COVID-19 protocols.
