The former Super Eagles midfielder has taken on a leadership position at Grasshoppers after leaving Wolves

The newly promoted Swiss Super League club Grasshopper Club Zurich has announced the appointment of Seyi Olofinjana as the club’s technical director.

The 40-year-old was the credit manager at Wolverhampton Wanderers and played a key role in maintaining the club’s Premier League status.

The former Nigerian international split from Wolves in April, where he has been active since retiring from professional football.

Olofinjana is excited about his new role at Letzigrund and is looking forward to helping the club achieve success in the top Swiss league.

“I’m happy to be part of a club with a history like GC. I hope that together we can reestablish GC at the top of the Super League,” Olofinjana told the club’s website.

Olofinjana began his European career with Norwegian team Brann before joining forces with Wolves in 2004. He then spent four years with the team and played in more than 130 league games.

The midfielder then moved to Stoke City and spent a season with the club in the Premier League before moving to Hull City.

He also played for Sheffield Wednesday and was last seen for Start at Tippeligaen before retiring.

After retiring, he returned to Wolverhampton Wanderers and worked with the club’s academy before being named credit manager.

Olofinjana made 48 appearances for the Nigerian national team before retiring from international service and helped the Super Eagles finish third in the 2010 African Cup of Nations.

The Grasshopper Club Zurich became champions of the Swiss Challenge League and rose to the top league.

The Grasshoppers are currently without a manager and Olofinjana is expected to play a key role in finding a new coach for the club.
