Pandemic Response Lab (PRL) discovers first variant of COVID-19 from South Africa in citizens of New York

BROOKLYN, NY, February 21, 2021 / PRNewswire / – The Pandemic Response Lab (PRL) in new York, a world-class diagnostic life sciences company founded by Opentrons Labworks Inc., announced today that its scientists have discovered the first case of B1.351, the South African variant of COVID-19, in a New York State Residents.

At least 10 other cases of South African variants have been identified in the United States.

The New York City-based PRL that has been running high volume testing in this state since then September 2020started genome sequencing three weeks ago to track COVID-19 variants. When this new variant was discovered in a new York Residents, PRL notify federal, state, and local health authorities.
