The Pherogen ™ SPOFR, pheromone dispenser, offers a preventive, effective and safe technology to control the fallworm (Spodoptera frugiperda) in Kenya

With the introduction of the Pherogen SPOFR solution, farmers in Kenya now have a tool to rethink protecting their crops from harmful insect pest populations. “

– Mr. Andres Laignelet, Global Head, Corn Projects

SANTA MONICA, CA, UNITED STATES, Feb. 1, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ – Provivi® Inc (“Provivi”), an emerging crop protection company that uses pheromones to protect plants from large noxious insects, proudly announces regulatory approval from ” PherogenTM “known as SPOFR” in Kenya. The Kenyan Pest Control Products Board (PCPB) approval is for the control of the autumn worm (Spodoptera frugiperda) in maize.

The Armyworm case has established itself as a seriously harmful pest for maize plants in Kenya. Current tools to control this pest are often costly and poorly effective, while posing health risks to users and farmers.

“For Provivi, farmers are the cornerstone of our organization. We are grateful and delighted to be able to offer farmers a preventative, sustainable and non-toxic solution to Armyworm – improving their corn plants, their business and their livelihood,” said Andres Laignelet, Global Head, corn projects at Provivi.

PherogenTM SPOFR is a pheromone-based dispenser that will change the way farmers in Kenya deal with the autumn worm problem. Early harvest application provides seasonal control by breaking mating of the pest and preventing harmful populations from forming.

“With the introduction of the PherogenTM SPOFR solution, farmers in Kenya now have a tool to rethink protecting their crops from harmful insect pest populations. As a natural compound with no risk of resistance, it provides an effective and safe basis for Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Autumn worms in corn. “Mr. Laignelet added.

“This registration marks the beginning of a new era of effective, affordable and environmentally friendly protection against the Fall Army worm for farmers not only in Kenya but in several other countries around the world where we are currently developing and registering the product.” Said Mr. Juan Manuel Lombana, VP Global Business at Provivi.
