Sasol and IDC formalize partnership to jointly develop South Africa’s hydrogen economy

JOHANNESBURG, July 5, 2021 / PRNewswire / – Sasol Limited (Sasol) and the Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa Limited (IDC) have entered into a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) to jointly develop and create a conducive environment for progress South Africa green hydrogen economy.

The basis of the MOC is the recognition of the parties that South Africa is in a unique position to leverage its world-class renewable resources and infrastructure, as well as Sasol’s Fischer-Tropsch technology and capabilities, to position the country as a leader in a global hydrogen economy.

Sasol and IDC will, among other things, work together on a non-exclusive basis to advocate political frameworks for enabling a hydrogen economy in relevant international forums; Development of pilot and commercial hydrogen projects to develop viable and sustainable solutions; Access to local and international funding options; and pursuing strategic projects that benefit the country’s energy transition and economic development goals.
