Selly Kaptich leads a 1-2-3 win for Kenya in 2022 Frankfurt Marathon
Selly Chepyego Kaptich fought bravely to emerge the 2022 Mainova Frankfurt Women’s Marathon winner in 2:23:11, ahead of fellow Kenyans Helah Jelagat Kiprop (2:24:40) and Jackline Chepngeno (2:25:14) on Sunday.
Kaptich had to dig deep for the victory. She fell and tripped after hitting the cross line but this was too late to deny her the deserved glory.
The 2001 World Youth Championships 3000 meters champion pushed hard for the win but couldn’t match the course record of 2:19:10 set by Kenya’s Valary Aiyabei in 2019.
