Apple Pay went online in South Africa and three banks are receiving support for the digital payments platform.
The three banks that are getting Apple Pay support are Discovery Bank, Nedbank Group, and Absa Group. TechCentral reports that all of them are part of the Discovery Group.
Customers of the Nedbank Group, Discovery Bank and Absa Group can now add their respective cards to the wallet app and use them to pay for goods and services from March 29, 2021.

Chipo Mushwana, head of Emerging Payments at Nedbank, says they are committed to continuing to offer new and sought-after payment solutions to their customers.
FNB and other local banks in South Africa are working to get Apple Pay support as well. Contactless payments in general have increased significantly since the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to Apple Pay, the country has also gained access to Garmin Pay, Fitbit Pay, and Samsung Pay.
