South Africa’s passport ranking for global entrepreneurs

Offshore consulting firm Nomad Capitalist has published the Nomad Capitalist Index (NPI) 2021, which lists the world’s best passes for entrepreneurs in 2021.

The NPI rates 199 citizenships based on five factors including visa-free travel, international tax laws, global perception, dual citizenship, and personal freedom.

The NPI’s travel score has been updated to reflect the economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Luxembourg secured first place in the rankings, staying at the top of the list for the fourth year in a row. In second place are Ireland and Sweden, followed by Switzerland, Belgium, Finland, Portugal, Singapore, the Czech Republic and the Netherlands.

South Africa tops the list at 99 and scores poorly on taxes, freedom and perception.

While most indexes – and most people – think of a passport only in terms of travel privileges, we’ve found that citizens of different countries have very different needs for paying taxes, free living, regulatory compliance, and avoidance Bypass control when traveling, Nomad Capitalist said.

In that regard, the number of countries a passport holder can visit doesn’t tell the whole story.

The Nomad Passport Index appeals to those seeking personal freedom and financial prosperity in a changing world by taking a closer look at the true value of each passport.
