According to a report by PriceWaterhouseCoopers titled Entertainment and Media Outlook (2015-2019), the Kenyan entertainment market topped the KSh 300 billion mark in 2019.

Some of the top comedians who made it through perseverance and hard work are currently making millions.

1. Eric Omondi

Eric Omondi began his comedy career on NTV’s Churchill show living hand-to-mouth.

The self-proclaimed president of comedy, named Africa’s Best Comedian in 2019, announced he was famous but broke in his first few months when he appeared on the show.

“I remember being very famous for the first five months but very broke when I started doing Churchill Live. I couldn’t go out on the street. I was going to climb Matatus and a lot of people thought I was doing an episode, but in the real sense I didn’t have anything. I was drenched in sweat, “said Omondi, as reported by The Standard.

The 34-year-old said he learned how to make extra money from Daniel Ndambuki (Churchill).

“Churchill asked me to find a manager to get me shows, and that’s exactly what I did. I soon discovered how I could use my talent to improve my life, “he explained.

He then left the show and started producing comedy on YouTube. It was selected and currently has over 515,000 subscribers and over 57 million views since 2011.

On Tuesday November 17th, he opened his own studio called Big Tyme Entertainment Company, the CEO.
