The PN ship sets up a free medical camp in Kenya

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Navy ship ALAMGIR visited Mombasa, Kenya, as part of overseas operations in Africa, a Pakistan Navy spokesman said Friday.

PNS ALAMGIR was received by the High Commissioner of Pakistan, the Defense Attaché of Pakistan and senior officials from the Kenya Navy. As a goodwill gesture and to expand humanitarian assistance, a free medical camp was set up in Mombasa by the Pakistan Navy to provide medical facilities and medicines to over 5,400 Kenyan patients. COVID-19 SOPs were secured during the medical camp.

The Mission Commander, together with the Commanding Officer of the PNS ALAMGIR, also spoke with the Cabinet Secretary of Defense and the Deputy Commander of the Kenya Navy and discussed matters of mutual interest. The Mission Commander extended well wishes to the Kenyan people from Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi, Chief of the Naval Staff.

During the deployment of PNS ALAMGIR on the African continent since November 2021, over 15,000 patients have been treated and provided with medication in five countries. It is the manifestation of Pakistan’s “Engage Africa” ​​policy of exploring new avenues of cooperation, strengthening bilateral ties and developing interoperability with African countries.
