Travel advice to Egypt puts insurers in readiness

A vacation in Egypt can mean camel trips into the desert, oasis visits and pyramids visits. However, a recent government warning warning Kiwis not to travel to Egypt puts insurers in readiness for potential cancellation claims.

The State Department has advised New Zealanders to exercise increased caution in Egypt after British Airways and Lufthansa announced flight suspensions over safety concerns.

Increased levels of caution are in place in different parts of the country, suggesting that travelers should either avoid non-essential trips or check that their travel policies cover a trip cut.

The ministry also encouraged New Zealanders living or traveling overseas to register their details with the nearest embassy or consulate.
