UAE-based business intelligence and investment firm Investera has launched operations in Kenya to assist overseas investors looking to invest locally and to connect local firms with overseas opportunities.

The entry takes place via a partnership agreement with their local colleagues, Investera Plus Africa. The company will provide market research, due diligence, investment advice and financial intelligence services to investors, companies and entrepreneurs.

Raising seed capital and accessing markets are some of the biggest challenges facing aspiring Kenyan entrepreneurs, as banks require collateral that most of them don’t have, a previous study showed.

“If you want to start a mining operation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo or invest in a technology start-up in Kenya, in Malawi in the hospitality industry or even in oil and gas in Chad or Nigeria, the platform gives you access to verified and credible contacts , Industry insights and market information in these countries and helps you navigate the business processes to implement your growth strategy, “said Mahmoud Suleiman, director of Investora, in a statement.

Investera Plus Africa said it selected Kenya, East Africa’s largest economy, as the best location to start its business because of the country’s strategic importance as a key regional business gateway.

“By establishing Investera Plus Africa, we are building on a very fruitful business infrastructure and providing the missing link to change the continent’s investment climate,” said Tito Mutai, Executive Director of Investera Plus Africa.

The portal is intended to offer a network from a single source for companies, wealthy individuals, philanthropists, young and established entrepreneurs, industrialists and regulatory authorities in all 55 countries on the continent

“Our experience has shown that people sometimes have ideas without money. On the other hand, people may have the money, the ideas and the competent skills, but with no trusted contacts in a destination, to turn the idea into a reality, “Suleiman said.
