Women from India vs Women from South Africa, 3rd ODI Live Cricket Score: Mithali joins Raut after Mandhana fell to 25 – sports star
Hello and welcome to Sportstars LIVE coverage of the third ODI between India Women and South Africa Women at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.
|IND 83/2 after 17 overs against SA|
India 80/2 after 16 overs: Mithali makes his way to the border with a shot. Sekhukhune bothers the Indian skipper with her different pace and Mithali needs about a minute to regroup. She remains silent as Sekhukhune walks in and plays the film with exquisite precision, trying to hit her first innings limit.
India 73/2 after 14 overs: drinks. Just when India was about to step on the pedal, opener Smriti Mandhana took a rather ironic break. Skipper Mithali Raj and Punam Raut have teamed up in the middle and with South Africa putting the slower bowlers through a role, the batters must continuously work with the singles and doubles as they pierce the gaps.
India 64/2 after 12 overs: Sekhukhune to Mandhana. OUT! Sekhukhune fooled Mandhana with the slower one! Sekhukhune slowed down at Mandhana’s pads and aimed for a blow over the square leg but failed to turn it on. The lack of pace on the ball gave Sekhukhune the trick when Mandhana gave away after appearing in her element from the first ball on. Smriti Mandhana c Shangase b Sekhukhune 25 (27b 4×4)
India has scored 250 hits 13 times in the past three years. Hello, to add a third to the list.
India 57/1 after 10 overs: Mandhana takes India over 50 with two exquisite borders. Sekhukhune’s lack of speed almost scalps Mandhana as she makes a control run through the air through the ceiling, but with her highest timing she has it under control. Mandhana takes it with a one-legged strip through the middle of the wicket over the middle pacemaker to settle in further.
Sekhukhune in the attack.
India 45/1 after 9 overs: Khaka starts over with a girl! Raut is forced to fend off the probing attempts that attack the stumps, and Khaka keeps them accurate throughout.
Thanks to Khaka, Shabnim replaced Ismail in the attack.
India 45/1 after 8 overs: India continues to cross the borders and Mandhana and Raut have made little effort to turn the strike with singles. Certainly a limit per over keeps the batters at bay for the time being.
India 35/1 after 6 overs: Raut was batting optimism today and has so far been concerned with boundaries. Kapp attacks the stumps and Raut keeps them away well with her solid defense. Kapp misses its length a bit, is too crowded, and Raut skims down the floor in a delicious straight ride.
India 28/1 after 5 overs: Majestic from Mandhana! Glorious cover drives away from Ismail to sneak into the older pacemaker’s runs again. Ismail has not been on her length since then and the Indian batters have not welcomed her kindly. Kapp at the other end, however, has both Mandhana and Raut on his hindfoot and so far only done two runs of so many overs.
India 21/1 after 3 overs: Raut takes on Ismail with three borders! Ismail is quite worried about a crisp cover drive first-up in the over. Next, throw a no-ball and leave a sliced border in the fine leg on the next ball. Raut collects again when Ismail strays the ball towards the pads again and the batsman leads down the side without hesitation.
India 0/1 after 1 overs: Ismail to Jemimah. OUT! And Jemimah is sent back the second ball. Excellent delivery in the right place outside the off-stump channel that swung a chunk away from Jemimah and couldn’t resist the temptation of an early cover ride. Edge it and carry straight to Jafta behind the wicket. Good start for Ismail and SA as aces a Wicket maiden first over!
And the action begins! The Proteas take the lead as Indian openers Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues move into the middle. Shabnim Ismail picks up the new ball.
Parking space report: A touch of green on the surface and possibly just right for the pacemaker in the first 20 minutes. With the SA bowlers relying more on speed than swing, Mandhana and Rodrigues could just as easily have it. The rest of the day would be well spent showing off a batting belt.
On a fine club face, India wouldn’t mind that South Africa forced South Africa to beat it first. On top of that, the Proteas made up to four changes, with Skipper Luus also being sick and India being able to smell an early lead ahead of the game. All eyes will be on Smriti Mandhana again and co-opener Jemimah Rodrigues will have an excellent chance to get back in shape.
TOSS: South Africa wins the litter and decides on the field. The strange streak continues on a fresh face.
Four changes for South Africa, as skipper Luus is also canceled. Wolvaardt will command the Proteas.
India remains unchanged.

2. ODI review
Mithali Raj and Co. returned to victories on Tuesday after a year-long hiatus, scoring a crisp response against the Proteas to set the series up for Friday’s third competition.
On a beautiful wicket, India surprisingly chose to bowl first and the skipper’s reputation was backed by some excellence from the bowlers. Seasoned pacer Jhulan Goswami led the way with a succinct foursome that broke the back of Sune Luus’ South African team and caused a painful eight-wicket win in the first ODI. Jhulan was supported by comeback pacer Mansi Joshi, whose fine outswinging exploits grabbed two crucial wickets for the first time. The Proteas, eliminated for 157, faced little resistance in India’s chase. For the opener Smriti Mandhana and the dough No. 3, Punam Raut made fun on a conducive surface with a black base.
India women versus South Africa women, 2nd ODI highlights: Mandhana, Goswami and Raut sizzle in India’s nine-wicket win
Mandhana’s dashing lightning bolt put India on the roll, while Raut slowly had a look inside before hitting the weirdos. Without much ado, India had gone home to a nine wicket win and recovered in style.
The side changed amazingly on the way to third place on Friday and the hosts have an edge over the competition.

WHAT YOU SAID

They are now very proactive in telling us what series we will have for the next year.” I think we’ll have a pretty clear idea in a few days. I think as a player it is important to know what series you are going to play next or what the schedule is so that we can prepare mentally, physically and evenly with the skills like the bowler that you will be playing for the next two to three months will face.
